The New Orleans Darkroom is delighted to announce a call for entries for the Emerging Photographer 2008 show juried by internationally renowned photographer Herman Leonard and open to photographers under 35 years of age.

The purpose of this show is to provide exposure to five outstanding young photographers with an exhibition, and the promotion of their work in the online gallery.

The exhibition will open for New Orleans' Art for Art's Sake event on Saturday October 4th at The Darkroom Gallery's Garden District showspace. It will feature the winning five bodies of work, for a total of twenty-five prints.

Says gallery owner Charles Mégnin: "Rather than simply presenting compelling individual images out of context, the exhibition will feature original bodies of work that emphasize each photographer's consistency of vision and ability to develop a visual theme."
"Herman developed a style of imagery that is as fresh today as it was when he developed it fifty years ago. His portraits constitute some of the most immediately recognizeable photographs today: this is a unique opportunity for young artists to gain visibility and to interact with one of the world's true photographic legends."

The show will run through October 30th 2008.
